A budget lodge safari combined with a Zanzibar beach holiday, among our most requested programs. This itinerary can also be customized to a mid-range or luxury lodge safari based on your budget. It takes you to the northern parks of Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara before flying to Zanzibar for beach relaxation.
On arrival, our representative meets you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and drives you to your lodge in Arusha, at the base of Mount Meru with views of both Meru and Kilimanjaro. Our safari manager will come for a briefing, then leave you to relax for the rest of the day.
After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park via Arusha town for any last-minute purchases, then along the Masai steppe and villages, reaching the gate before noon. Tarangire is known for its large elephant population, huge baobab trees, and rare Greater Kudu, Fringe-Eared Oryx and Ash Starling, alongside wildebeest, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, hippo, lion, hyena, jackal, cheetah and leopard. Over 400 bird species have been recorded here.
Drive to the Serengeti via the high farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro gate, stopping at the crater view point (2,300m) for photos. On the way, visit a Masai village for a cultural exchange, then continue to Naabi Hill Gate for check-in. After lunch, an en-route game drive searches for the Great Wildebeest Migration (dates permitting), continuing to camp for dinner and overnight.
An early morning game drive departing at 06:30 with breakfast and lunch boxes, following the Great Wildebeest Migration and watching for hunting, feeding and other action (dates permitting). Afternoon game drive continues the search for zebra, giraffe, buffalo, warthog and elephant before returning to camp for dinner and overnight.
Depart for the Ngorongoro Crater with an en-route game drive, descending over 600m into the crater floor for a full morning of game viewing (packed lunch served at the crater floor). The crater is home to wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, elephant and the rare black rhino, plus lion, hyena, cheetah, jackal and leopard. Visit the Hippo Pool and a shallow alkaline lake frequented by flamingos.
After early breakfast, an optional game drive at Lake Manyara National Park, known for tree-climbing lions and colourful flamingos, before driving to Arusha airport for a flight to Zanzibar. On arrival, meet our representative and transfer to your beach hotel at Matemwe Village on the north-east coast.
Spend the day relaxing on the white sand beaches of Zanzibar, with the option to arrange water sports such as snorkelling, scuba diving or fishing.
A second day of leisure on the beach, with water sports available on request.
After leisurely breakfast, depart for Stone Town, with an optional spice tour and lunch cooked with local spices on the way. In the afternoon, check in and explore the narrow lanes of Stone Town on your own, or arrange a boat ride to Prison Island.
Depending on your flight time, an optional guided Stone Town tour or time to explore on your own before transferring to Zanzibar airport (about 10 minutes from Stone Town) for your flight home.
