SAFARI OVERVIEW

2 Days Tanzania Lodge Safari | Ngorongoro Crater & Tarangire

This 2 days Tanzania lodge safari is a package that fits business travelers and others with time constraints or a tight budget — 2 days, 1 night in mid-range accommodation. It takes you to Tarangire National Park, the place for elephants, and to the world nature wonder "the Ngorongoro Crater", with a good chance of spotting the Big Five in a short period. The route includes a descent of 600 metres down the crater walls to the crater floor.

Your Itinerary

DAY 1

Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

You will leave Arusha at around 08:00 for Tarangire National Park, passing through Arusha town for any last-minute purchases before heading to the bush. The drive crosses the beautiful Masai steppe and several villages, reaching Makuyuni junction before turning onto the Arusha–Dodoma highway toward Tarangire, about 2.5 hours on tarmac. Game drives start right from the gate — expect to see many animals and birds, including the rare Greater Kudu, Fringe-Eared Oryx and Ash Starling. Tarangire is famous for its elephant population of around 6,000 roaming the Tarangire–Lake Manyara ecosystem, huge baobab trees, and tree-climbing pythons. Your guide will take you to the best wildlife-viewing areas along the river and lake shore, where eland, buffalo, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra and predators such as lion, leopard, hyena, jackal and cheetah gather for water. Packed lunch is served inside the park. Late afternoon, drive across to the Great Rift Valley escarpment, stopping at the Lake Manyara view point for photos during sunset, before continuing to your lodge at the Ngorongoro highlands for dinner and overnight.

DAY 2

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha

After breakfast, drive along the high farmlands of Karatu to the Ngorongoro gate for check-in, then up to the crater rim for photos at the view point before descending 600 metres to the crater floor for a full morning of game viewing. The Ngorongoro Crater — sometimes called the 8th wonder of the world — supports large numbers of wildebeest, buffalo, elephant, zebra, eland, hippo, gazelle and the rare black rhino, along with a dense population of lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena and jackal. Birdlife is abundant, from flamingos at Lake Magadi to pelicans, ibis, ostrich and geese. Packed lunch is served at the crater floor. Late afternoon, drive out and back to Arusha, where your safari ends.
